Chapter 76

To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song of Asaph. In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

Al maestro del coro. Su strumenti a corda con cetre. Salmo. Di Asaf. Canto. Dio è conosciuto in Giuda, in Israele è grande il suo nome.

In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

E' in Gerusalemme la sua dimora, la sua abitazione, in Sion.

There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

Qui spezzò le saette dell'arco, lo scudo, la spada, la guerra.

Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

Splendido tu sei, o Potente, sui monti della preda;

The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.

furono spogliati i valorosi, furono colti dal sonno, nessun prode ritrovava la sua mano.

At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

Dio di Giacobbe, alla tua minaccia, si arrestarono carri e cavalli.

Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

Tu sei terribile; chi ti resiste quando si scatena la tua ira?

Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

Dal cielo fai udire la sentenza: sbigottita la terra tace

When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

quando Dio si alza per giudicare, per salvare tutti gli umili della terra.

Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

L'uomo colpito dal tuo furore ti dà gloria, gli scampati dall'ira ti fanno festa.

Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

Fate voti al Signore vostro Dio e adempiteli, quanti lo circondano portino doni al Terribile,

He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

a lui che toglie il respiro ai potenti; è terribile per i re della terra.
